Masterclass in Learning Technologies a Success for Aurion Learning
Over 50 learning and development professionals from the UK and Irish health sectors gathered together in the Holiday Inn, Belfast on 23 September 2010 to take part in a Masterclass in Learning Technologies.
The event, which was hosted by Belfast based company Aurion Learning, was the first in a series of Masterclass events planned by the award winning online learning solutions provider.
Hugh McPoland, Director of HR & Corporate Services of Business Services Organisation (BSO) kicked off proceedings with a motivating opening address. Other speakers included Pat Kenny, E-Learning Project Manager, Health Services Executive (HSE); Pip Hardy, Patient Voices, Pilgrim Projects; Dr. Maureen Murphy, Aurion Learning; Liam Butler, Net Dimensions; and Glynn Jung, Learning Light.
Topics discussed included: how to deliver learning and development with shrinking budgets; making online learning work in the health sector; using learning technologies to build internal capabilities; using patient stories for learning; and choosing a learning management system.
Speaking about the event, Dr. Maureen Murphy, Managing Director of Aurion Learning said:
"This is the first in a series of events that we plan to run for learning and development professionals over the next year, and we were delighted with the turnout.
Some of the biggest challenges facing learning and development professionals in the health sector today are how to deliver training with reduced budgets, how to develop effective online learning, and how to get learners to embrace online learning.
The purpose of our Masterclass was to open a forum to discuss these issues, and to help those who have a remit for learning and development gain some inspiration about the best way to move forwards. Feedback was very positive with the vast majority of our guests telling us that the information provided was helpful and informative."
