New strategy and senior management appointments at Brightwave
Ahead of its headline sponsorship of Learning Technologies 2014, next generation learning expert Brightwave unveils its long-term strategy to combine new technologies with innovative approaches and designs to help people learn better at work and beyond.
Charles Gould, founder of Brightwave has moved into a CEO role, focusing his efforts on leading the organisation at a strategic level and exploring opportunities for partnerships and new market development.
Caroline Walmsley, who has worked alongside Charles as COO at Brightwave since February 2013, has been appointed Managing Director. With prior executive management experience in the publishing industry for more than 15 years, including her previous position as Managing Director of AVA Publishing, Caroline will draw on her extensive experience to drive Brightwave's continued commercial success.
Following a third consecutive year of growth that has included award success for newly launched social learning platform tessello as well as a number of bespoke client projects, Brightwave has outlined its commitment to next generation learning with news of greater investment in innovation and new product development.
With sales and revenues both exceeding performance against the previous year, Brightwave's strong financial performance paves the way for greater investment in the organisation's vision of next generation learning. The commercial success of tessello in 2013, together with additional investment in technology and new production methods, has attracted a number of new clients from the corporate sector (including a global food leader, two magic circle law firms and a major utility company) as well as new key partners in the higher education and healthcare sectors.
Brightwave has begun to implement this strategy with steps to develop solutions and new technologies that will meet the needs of, and shape, the future of learning. Version 2.0 of tessello with its new features will be unveiled at Learning Technologies later this month, together with demonstrations of a number of innovative new approaches - including a Unity 3D simulation to support a product knowledge need, exciting use of video to meet traditional e-learning objectives, plus a new development engine to powers Brightwave's bespoke content solutions.
CEO, Charles Gould said: "Brightwave has enjoyed impressive growth over the past three years and is in a strong financial position to invest in its strategy to be the leader in next generation learning. Caroline has worked closely with me over the last year in her role as COO and the results of her work have been outstanding. It's a great feeling to hand over the running of the company to someone of her ability and experience having performed that role myself since founding the business. It allows me to focus more on future strategy as we develop innovative products and services for our growing number of customers."
Caroline Walmsley, MD, said: "I am delighted to take on the Managing Director position at Brightwave and am excited by the opportunity to work closely with Charles and the senior management team to continue the strong performance of Brightwave going forward. In my time at Brightwave I have continued to be impressed by the quality of not only the solutions we offer, but the commitment of our expert team to delivering a first class service to our clients. This continues to be the core pillar of our strategy, backed up by real investment in innovation and forward-thinking ideas that are hallmarks of the Brightwave brand ."
