A new online video library to help knowledge ‘stick’
Clear Lessons, a brand new video library and platform, is launching at Learning Technologies 2017. Drawing on research into the effectiveness of using video, Clear Lessons’ unique approach will ensure that knowledge ‘sticks’.
Clear Lessons, a video learning library and bespoke platform is launching at Learning Technologies, 1-2 February 2017. The library contains more than 500 short video lessons with successful leaders, sharing the secrets to their success.
In order to create Clear Lessons, Martin Baker drew on research into the effectiveness of using video to share knowledge and embed learning. For example:
- Micro learning works best. The largest study of video engagement to date, analysing 6.9m video watching sessions, concluded that videos improve the learning experience and are most effective when kept to under six minutes long.
- Video helps to improve efficiency. The latest Towards Maturity benchmark reveals that 80% of the most efficient organisations use video to capture and share effective practices within their organisations.
- Using video is both interactive and social. According to research, 54% of senior executives share work related videos with colleagues every week, and receive them as often. Younger workers are more likely to share work related videos on a daily basis.
“L&D practitioners already know how incredibly popular video is – research confirms that video also helps learning ‘stick’. It’s just such an effective medium for sharing knowledge,” explained Martin. “And most importantly, leaders and managers love it.”
Laura Overton, MD of Towards Maturity, agrees: “Our Learning Landscape studies have shown that directors and senior managers are highly motivated to learn online, using their mobile devices to access work related content when they need it. They are also keen to use technology to learn from each other. Video is an ideal medium for them to achieve both.”
The custom made Clear Lessons platform has a unique combination of functionality so that:
- Videos can be used for both push and pull learning.
- Playlists can be created for cohorts, and delivered one video at a time.
- Sharing videos amongst teams is encouraged.
- Bespoke video content can be uploaded and shared in-house.
Video killed the radio star: Martin Baker will be talking about research into the effectiveness of using video for learning and development, and the unique functionality of the Clear Lessons platform, in a free demonstration at Learning Technologies.
Entitled 'Video Killed the Radio Star', he’ll be presenting on the exhibition floor, Olympia, London at 12.30pm on Wednesday 1st February in theatre 7 and again at 11.45am on Thursday 2nd February in Theatre 8.
As well as launching the new video library and platform, the Corporate eLearning Consortium has rebranded as Clear Lessons. This reflects its focus on using video as the most popular and effective means of sharing knowledge.
