HSE Fee for Intervention - EssentialSkillz Health and Safety E-Learning helps firms comply with their legal obligations
On the 1st October 2012, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) new Fee for Intervention (FFI) cost recovery scheme will be introduced in the UK. Health and Safety E-Learning company, EssentialSkillz, say that training staff is key for companies to keep their house in order.
The HSE's new cost recovery scheme (Fee for Intervention) will come into force on Monday 1st October 2012. The Health and Safety (Fees) Regulations 2012 will mean that any business breaking health and safety laws will be liable for the recovery of related costs incurred by the HSE including inspection, investigation and taking enforcement action.
The HSE will be charging an hourly rate of £124 during 2012 and 2013. The introduction of the new regulation means that businesses across the UK need to ensure that they are complying with Health and Safety laws. Global Health and Safety E-Learning provider, EssentialSkillz, suggest that training staff is a fundamental part of the process.
"We all take Health and Safety seriously", commented EssentialSkillz Managing Director, Julian Roberts, "but the introduction of this new regulation should be a reminder that we need to take an inward look at our organisations and make sure we have covered all angles and this of course includes training. E-Learning is both an effective and cost efficient method of providing training to large volumes of staff and importantly, there is a record to prove that the training has been delivered, viewed and understood".
EssentialSkillz have a library of 18 Health and Safety E-Learning courses, 10 of which are RoSPA Approved, including:
- Fire Safety
- Display Screen Equipment
- PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Manual Handling
- Working at Height
- Slips, Trips and Falls
- Driving Safely
The company is offering UK businesses the opportunity of a free trial for the courses relevant to them. EssentialSkillz also say that all of their courses are editable by their customers, "companies can use the courses in their standard format off the shelf, or, they can edit the course to make it more specific for their business, at no extra cost" added Julian.
