Patchy AI adoption in talent acquisition tech, despite vendor ambition
New report maps vendors’ current AI capabilities and future plans; interview with David Wilson, Fosway.
AI is reshaping talent acquisition but adoption across recruitment technology remains inconsistent, according to new research from Fosway Group.
Fosway's inaugural AI Market Assessment for Talent Acquisition 2025 benchmarks the AI capabilities of leading TA vendors, assessing how deeply AI is embedded across the recruitment workflow. Nearly 100 different AI features are looked at across candidate attraction, candidate acquisition, candidate management and new starter management.
The report finds widespread AI feature development, but maturity levels vary. Some vendors offer robust AI-powered solutions, particularly around explaining AI use, candidate filtering and assessing CVs, while others are only just beginning to integrate AI meaningfully into their platforms.
David Wilson, CEO of Fosway and lead author of the report, said the aim was to provide clarity for buyers navigating a fast-moving market.
‘There’s a lot of noise and a lot of promise. We wanted to show what’s real, what’s usable now and what’s actually planned,’ he said. ‘There’s a gap between vendors’ aspirations and what customers can put into action today and that’s what this research brings into focus.’
Wilson emphasised that the benchmarking model is designed not only for procurement but also for vendors themselves. ‘Some are clearly ahead, others are talking a good game but haven’t yet delivered. Our model provides a transparent lens to assess that.’
Fosway developed the report to help TA technology buyers assess vendors’ actual AI delivery against marketing claims. The visual benchmarking model also enables vendors to track their maturity relative to the market.
‘This is the first time we’ve provided a side-by-side view of where the market really stands,’ Wilson said. ‘It gives buyers evidence to cut through the noise and vendors insight into where to invest next.’
