Hemsley Fraser Wins Golds At 2023 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards
Global learning and talent development provider wins noted awards for work contributing to Shell and BAE's leadership and blended learning development programmes.
August 25, 2023 - Global learning and talent development providerHemsley Fraser has won three gold awards in the 2023 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards™.
The coveted awards recognize best practices for initiatives in Learning and Development, Talent Management, Leadership Development, Talent Acquisition and Human Resources.
Hemsley - who provide learning journeys, leadership development programs as well as digital and blended learning, consulting services and managed learning services for enterprises worldwide - won the awards for excellence in three different award categories:
- Best Advance in Leadership Development - for our work developing the LEAD for Team Leaders leadership development programmes for global energy company, Shell
- Best Advance in Leadership Development - recognising our contribution to the design of a new Leadership Development programme for global security, aerospace and defense expert, BAE Systems
- Best Use of a Blended Learning Program - for designing Blended Learning & Development programmes, also for BAE Systems.
Lynsey Whitmarsh, CEO, Hemsley Fraser, said: “We are thrilled to be part of BAE Systems and Shell’s success in these prestigious awards. The achievements are a testament to these global organisations’ ability to take strategic and intelligent approaches, such as hybrid learning and creating learning mindsets, to address their transformational change and fast-changing management and leadership needs.”.
BAE gained the Best Advance in Leadership Development Gold Award for its compelling leadership development programme designed to help managers establish new and consistent leadership habits to ensure they are ready for future challenges.
Designed and delivered with the support of Hemsley Fraser, the two-level programme comprised of Managing People - for leaders with up to three years’ experience and it’s Leading the Future programme for its senior leaders of four or more years’ standing.
The levels were delivered to specific cohorts over a six-month period and were anchored in a highly interactive, hybrid learning experience. The program’s remarkably high participation rate of 96% was appreciably higher than any previous group leadership programmes while 93% of learners say they have regularly implemented their learning such as improved engagement with senior stakeholders and better understanding of change management priorities.
The BAE Systems team also gained the Blended Learning Program Gold Award for its successful cultural shift in learning style for BAE managers towards a modular behavioral focus that was delivered in a hybrid manner – wherever individual managers are and however they like to learn – to ensure they can be more agile, adaptable, and ready for future challenges.
Designed and implemented in conjunction with Hemsley and delivered in defined cohorts over a six-months, the programme is helping company managers quickly establish new, consistent leadership habits, based on insights gained from a highly interactive, hybrid learning experience.
Shell gained the Leadership Development award because the LEAD for Team Leaders programme successfully applied a continuous learning strategy to the problem of how managers could acquire the required mindsets and behaviors to lead successfully in challenging contexts. Following the pandemic, Shell had set up a Powering Progress management strategy within its newly reorganised management structure but it still needed middle managers that could lead the new strategy, support teams impacted by Covid effectively, and adapt to new and changing roles within the company’s new structure.
The LEAD for Team Leaders program featured a 12-15-week learning journey with a key focus of helping leaders and managers develop a Learner Mindset – an ethos of continuous learning, being comfortable with not knowing, and feeling safe to admit when they needed support.
Hemsley’s industry partners, Greystar Real Estate partners and 5app, also claimed a Silver Award in the Best Advance in the Flow of Work. This project saw Greystar introduce a game-changing Learning Academies architecture to its hugely successful Greystar Business School, which also won a Gold Brandon Hall Group award in 2020.
"Excellence Award winners are shown to be organisations that truly value their employees and invest in them through their human capital management programmes.
