First showing in the desert - IMC exhibitor at "Learning Systems" in Las Vegas
For the first time, IMC, the leading supplier of learning technologies in Europe, is an active player at the annual gathering of learning executives at "Learning Systems 2008" in Las Vegas.
IMC is sponsor and exhibitor at the event that takes place on the 10th and 11th of April. "In our view this is the most important event for 'Learning Management Systems' (LMS) in the world as it thoroughly focuses on this topic", Dr. Wolfgang Kraemer, CEO of IMC, says. "It is attended by profound experts and long time users of LMS, who have a deep insight in the business. It is the "Learning Systems", where future developments take their start." All these factors would make the "Learning Systems" a very intense and worthwhile event. "Furthermore, our participation is another integral part in the strategy of internationalisation of IMC", Dr. Frank Habermann, IMC´s Senior Vice President International Business, adds.
The annual two day event brings together almost 400 learning executives from all over the world. In an interview with the host of 'Learning Systems', the international expert Elliot Masie, Frank Habermann talks about the challenges that future LMS have to meet in the face of a growing complexity in the learning field. According to Habermann customer's scenarios for learning become more and more sophisticated which also means more and more complex. Thus customers demand learning technology that can cope with organisational complexity and really meets business demands. "On the other hand, from the CIO's perspective there is a clear tendency to see learning technology, like LMS, as a commodity", Habermann explains. "The hype is gone, and therefore - if we talk with ICT decision makers - the discussion is much more about total cost of ownership than about innovation and fancy functions". CIO's were particularly afraid of monstrous maintenance costs. Therefore there was a clear tendency to purchase standard software and see individual programming as a "no-go-criteria".
As a consequence, modern software is requested to particularly provide a powerful framework which allows adapting the software according to various business drivers, user profiles, technical environments as well as organisational prerequisites - without any programming just by setting parameters. Furthermore, IMC´s 'Director International Corporate Sales', Dr. Malte Beinhauer, will take part on an expert panel on "The future of learning systems: interviews with CLO/CTO from Suppliers" on the first day of the conference.
