Rosenberg proposes performance based learning to create 'smart' enterprises
Best selling US author speaks at Uncovered 2006 -- Uncovered 2006, Kallidus User Conference; Kallidus User Conference. Dr. Marc Rosenberg author of the best selling titles 'e-Learning' and 'Beyond e-Learning', encouraged training professionals to look beyond their current e-learning and blended learning solutions.
Rosenberg proposed that, instead, they should seek to implement performance led learning solutions to create 'smart' enterprises that would fully leverage the combined benefits of learning, performance and change management programmes.
Rosenberg took the message from his best selling book 'Beyond e-learning'. Blended learning has been hailed as the new revolution; a way of successfully integrating traditional classroom training and newer e-learning methodologies. Dr. Rosenberg however, recommended that the senior HR, IT and Training professional at Uncovered 2006 need to move beyond this blinkered view of blended.
In the new learning environment, there is a need to blend not only classroom and e-learning, but to fuse learning and knowledge management and to ensure the transfer of learning into organisational performance and value. Not only this, but learning also needs to be accessible across a broad range of technologies. Dr. Rosenberg stated that 'e-learning needs to be much more than "e-training". We need to look for innovative approaches to complement training as the technology-rich workplace requires new technology-enabled tools and strategies for workplace learning - anytime and anywhere. It is this kind of set up that will lead to the set up of "smart enterprises" designed to deal with the accelerated knowledge change.'
'New learners', said Dr. Rosenberg, 'will learn amidst email chatter, surfing the internet, using instant messenger and listening to their iPod.' e-learning is no longer a new initiative and it is up to us in the training community to keep pace with ever changing technologies. Learning will soon need to be accessible via new and mobile mediums including mp3 players, mobile phones and Blackberries.
The user conference agenda was designed to 'uncover' the very latest in e-learning trends and ideas and to reveal new tips and training ideas from the industry experts and real users of Kallidus. Dr. Rosenberg's comments were re-inforced by other sessions, including Sally-Ann Moore's 'Integrating work and Learning with e-learning for Measurable Business Benefits' and e2train's Managing Director, Rob Caul's session on 'Creating an Integrated Learning Technology Solution.'
