Cirencester, UKLearning NewsKallidus

David Wilson of Elearnity, and Laura Overton of Towards Maturity will be revealing new research and ideas for users of learning technology at Uncovered 2009, e2train's annual user event. e2train announces that both David and Laura will be presenting keynote presentations at the event to be held at the Celtic Manor Resort on 14 - 16 October.

Every year e2train hosts its annual Uncovered event, attracting leading industry experts and speakers. Now in its fourth year, Uncovered 2009 will be the largest event yet exploring the most important aspects of learning and development today.

The role of the LMS in a Web 2.0 world
Elearnity is Europe's leading corporate learning analyst. As founder and Managing Director, David Wilson one of the leading authorities on e-learning and learning innovation within Europe and is ideally placed to deliver a session that will explore the role of Learning Management in a Web 2.0 world.

Explains Wilson, 'Providing training today is no longer just about formal environments like the classroom, e-learning courses or even the Learning Management System itself. Learning professionals now need to embrace more informal and collaborative ways of learning and networking. This is a tough challenge in itself, but many learning platforms are still rooted in a formal learning model, compounding the issue for the L&D function. This session will be an opportunity to explore what is really needed from managed learning environments to support Web 2.0 and informal learning initiatives as we move forwards.'

Demonstrating value: Learning performance indicators
Towards Maturity is a renowned, independent, not for profit organisation with a passion for helping others to improve the impact of learning technologies at work. Laura, as Director of Towards Maturity, has over two decades of experience working with organisations around learning technologies and is involved with the Learning and Skills Council, Becta and the British Institute of Learning and Development (BILD).

Laura's interactive session will use current research from the L&D community to examine how learning technologies can add and demonstrate business value and what the key performance indicators are for organisations today. She comments 'With input from Towards Maturity's ground breaking benchmarking research on e-learning implementations success and hot-off-the-press data from the latest efficiency indicator survey, we will explore just how organisations currently measure the business value that learning provides, if at all, and decipher the key metrics that we as L&D professionals should provide to the CEO and board level management.'

Rob Caul, Managing Director of e2train, comments 'We are delighted that David and Laura will be joining us at Uncovered 2009. It will be a great opportunity for our user community to gain insights from two of the industry's leading experts into how learning strategies and environments are changing and adapting to suit new ways of learning and working, and to benefit from their real-world experiences.'
