City & Guilds Kineo Announces Elearning Apprenticeship Academy
City & Guilds and Kineo have announced plans to launch a new Elearning Apprenticeship Academy. The initiative will build on City & Guilds’ heritage as the UK’s leading provider of apprenticeships and qualifications. The aim is to create a unique programme of learning and qualifications for new entrants to the elearning industry.
The new Academy will address structural employment and training issues in the elearning industry. The continued adoption of elearning has led to a skill shortage in the elearning industry, particularly in learning design skills. This has been compounded by a lack of formal and high quality training and qualifications for the industry. The new Academy will provide extra capacity in the industry to meet existing gaps and ensure there is strong pipeline of new talent in this growth area
City & Guilds is developing a multi-year elearning apprenticeship programme, to be supported by the new Academy, which will develop key skills across the entire elearning production process including:
- Learning design
- Elearning development (IT technical)
- Project management
- Programming
- Graphics and animation
- Quality assurance
City & Guilds is keen to develop the apprenticeship programme and academy in collaboration with the wider industry. City & Guilds Kineo is inviting interested organisations to contact them to discuss the initiative, whether interested in designing the programme or providing apprenticeship opportunities. Interested organisations should contact Matt Fox in the first instance at matt.fox@kineo.com.
Kirstie Donnelly, City & Guilds Product Development Director said: "This is a unique opportunity to put something back into the e-learning industry and tap into the talent pool of school leavers to develop our next generation of elearning professionals."
Matt Fox, Director of City & Guilds Kineo said: "We
already have a great heritage in new graduate training. This
exciting initiative will help us build on this experience and
extend it to a new group of employees across all our key
disciplines. It will support us in our growth and our aim to give
something back to the wider industry and the elearning
community."
