Ladbrokes, Britain's biggest bookmaker, is aiming to further improve the performance of its UK shop business by introducing a series of HR initiatives and creating a more supportive management style. The HR initiatives include a new focus on performance management and talent management. The company has also created a leadership framework and it is working with learning specialist KnowledgePool to design, develop and deliver new training programmes.

Organisations can cut up to 30 per cent off their learning costs by addressing four areas of inefficiency, according to a new white paper launched today by KnowledgePool.

Called Are You Cutting It?, the paper exposes supplier management, administration, scheduling and solution design as four areas where organisations can make significant savings. It features a worked example showing how a company with a £1m learning budget could cut its learning costs by 31.9 per cent.

Managed learning services company KnowledgePool today announced strong financial results, after an exceptional year of accolades, new business wins and expansion.

The company - which manages learning for major clients such as British Airways, Lloyds TSB and Merrill Lynch - achieved an operating profit on a turnover of £14.2m, a 90% increase in revenues. Its position as the UK market leader in managed learning has been verified by NelsonHall, the outsourcing analyst firm, which maintains that KnowledgePool has 16% of a £110m UK market that is growing at 13% per annum.
