eLearning Industry Charity announces its launch at Learning Technologies

Learning NewsLearn Appeal

The eLearning Industry Charity will be a newly registered UK charity with the aim of harnessing the charitable work that many eLearning companies already do into a focused, well-planned endeavour to raise substantial funds for large-scale projects that have a learning connotation. The newly formed charity is enjoying its official launch at Learning Technologies 2013. Come to Stand 4 to learn more about the charity and to find out how to get involved

The charity will fund projects which support learning and education. This could be funding initiatives to get children into education in developing countries or supplying digital solutions to a specific learning group. The Trustees will consult and decide each year which causes to support.

Uniquely, the charity will donate 100% of the monies raised to the chosen causes. There will be no administration costs as these will be covered by contributions of people and resources from industry.

The charity will partner with UK development charities to identify projects which meet the eLearning Industry Charity’s objectives. These development charities will manage local NGOs who will look after the day-to-day running of the projects.

One of the key goals of the Charity is to identify projects which are sustainable and to offer support to the partnering charities so that they can carry on the work that was begun with the funding without continued help. The other guiding principles of the charity will be finalised at the first meeting of the Board of Trustees.

“The eLearning Industry Charity gives us an excellent opportunity to make a real difference. This is not only a platform for raising money but also a fantastic chance to bring the industry closer together, united behind a common goal where our colleagues will derive pride from helping others,” said Jonathan Satchell, Founder and Board of Trustees Member.
