Staff training partnership scheme goes from strength to strength
An innovative Learning and Development Partnership spearheaded by Teignbridge District Council is going from strength to strength to offer more learning opportunities for hundreds of public sector employees from the South West and beyond.
Teignbridge District Council's e-Academy has welcomed Exmoor National Park Authority and Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority to its nine-member strong consortium.
Teignbridge leads the e-Academy consortium which is made up of Dartmoor National Park Authority, East Devon District Council, Mid Devon District Council, South Hams District Council, South Somerset District Council, Teign Housing and West Devon District Council.
The e-Academy is an online learning programme of more than 200 courses, covering topics including business skills, customer skills, management skills and information management. The courses give staff the skills they need to provide even higher standards of customer service to residents while remaining cost-effective and efficient.
The e-Academy was launched by Teignbridge in October 2011 together with eLearning provider Learning Nexus.
Cllr Mike Walters, Teignbridge District Council’s Executive Spokesman for Corporate Services, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome both Exmoor and Yorkshire Dales on board. The continued development of the e-Academy really helps create a sustainable future particularly in challenging times when resources are increasingly becoming limited.
“Getting the best out of staff and continuing their development is fundamental to the delivery of high quality services for Teignbridge as it is to lots of other organisations. These days, time is money and we all want staff to deliver the best and most professional service possible to customers while providing great value for money frontline services.
“It’s really positive that we can deliver this type of collaborative training model with other councils and public sector organisations.”
