Learning Tree International (NASDAQ NM: LTRE) today introduced a new programme in the UK entitled Learning Tree Technical Coaching, an entirely new concept that takes the skills and knowledge learned in the classroom straight into the workplace while taking on major assignments under the guidance of an expert coach.
Technical Coaching is designed for individuals who are faced with a critical or highly visible project or task. The benefit of Technical Coaching over traditional consultancy is that, in addition to meeting project deliverables, individuals gain the first-hand experience and confidence that can only come from doing the work themselves.
"Although skills and knowledge transfer takes place in the classroom, a gap still remains." said Richard Chappell, Managing Director of the UK-based subsidiary of Learning Tree International.
"That gap is in technical proficiency and self-assurance, which comes as a result of practice and exposure. This is where the Technical Coaching concept adds real value."
Chappell continued, "Technical Coaching is not a low-cost alternative to consultancy. By combining the skills learned in the classroom with the real-life experience and specialist knowledge of an expert practitioner, relatively inexperienced technical professionals can tackle major projects or assignments with confidence."
"Furthermore." added Chappell, "unlike traditional consultancy, Learning Tree Technical Coaches actively work at transferring their knowledge and skills to the client's employees. This serves to reinforce the training that has already taken place, which is better for the individual's professional development and also for the organisation."
The programme is considered a natural extension of the hands-on approach to IT training Learning Tree employs, which incorporates instructors who are experts in their fields and who apply their knowledge in the real-world use of their technologies on a full-time basis.
