LINE showcases multi-platform mobile apps, Augmented Reality and looks to the future with agile Strategic Partnerships in the Optimisation of Defence training for 21st Century trainees.

LINE Communications, a key end to end provider of optimal, technology-centric learning and development solutions to the Defence & Security sector, will once again be exhibiting at the ITEC Defence Exhibition and Conference in Rome on the 22-25th of May.

Following the launch of its industry leading iPad based mobile learning, Fire Control Orders programme (for the RSA) at ITEC in 2010, LINE have experienced a continued demand for mobile learning. Located on stand B132 LINE will be showcasing all of their mobile learning projects developed for iPads and other mobile devices, as well as Augmented Reality (AR) procedural training and a coaching App for iOS, Android and we believe the first Windows App into Defence. LINE Defence & Security (LINE D&S) will also be showcasing their more traditional technology-based-training content and end-to-end approach to learning solutions developed for the MOD and D&S Sector, including sustainable and agile Strategic Partnerships.

LINE’s D&S Business Development Manager, Charlotte Marshall will be speaking in the Conference on Day 2 (23rd May) at 17:00-17:30 under the theme titled: Mobile Learning Technologies for the Armed Forces, chaired by Steve O’Connell of PDM. Charlotte’s session Mobile: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly - Lessons Learned will explore lessons learned from LINE's extensive experience of mobile projects which have enabled LINE to position itself as an expert in the field of mobile delivery solutions to military customers. The presentation will cover

  • Key challenges faced and overcome within the constraints of Defence
  • Deploying a blend of technologies/media on mobile
  • The Learning Design considerations for mobile form factors
  • How suppliers can resolve security, distribution and access issues

Also on Day 2 LINE D&S’s Programme Manager, Simon Fyfe will be speaking at the Innovation Showcase 13:15-13:45 on Responsive Design: The Saviour of Legacy Content in a Mobile Learning World. Simon’s talk will highlight the challenges and potential solutions to creating digital learning and support content that seamlessly adapts to display on whatever device the user has to hand.

Further details on both sessions can be found at: Line's mobile learning sessions at ITEC 2013.

On Thursday the exhibition hall will remain open from 1730-1930 for the hospitality evening, where LINE D&S will be hosting drinks on their stand, B132.

Keith Downes, Director and D&S Lead at LINE says, “Every year LINE D&S tries to bring innovation to ITEC as part of the mix  – this year is no exception. Mobile features strongly as does Augmented Reality, Virtual & Procedural Task Trainers and Step-In, Step-Out of Virtual Environments. However, we remain faithful to our end to end Learning Continuum (e.g. Advise, Content, Technology, Delivery & Support) – in retaining a holistic overview of how the introduction of technology can help optimise Defence training. This year LINE’s theme while inevitably covering innovation is rather more focused on pushing the Strategic Partnership agenda. We believe the time is upon us where the relatively unique combination of LINE’s experience and capabilities can be leveraged across a number of existing and up and coming programmes that will pull together the best of in-house practices and teams with appropriate, agile, industry partners to develop sustainable, optimised training strategies that address the needs of 21st Century trainees."
