Managing in the Next Society

The Austrian Peter Drucker Society holds its second global Peter Drucker Management Forum in Vienna from November 18th - 19th. World class speakers address a range of highly topical subjects at this year's congress.

Under the overall theme "Managing in the Next Society" the Forum will focus on the future challenges for Management and Society. The dynamics of change require new responses from managers in business and other institutions of modern society. The current crisis creates a sense of urgency and makes this dialogue highly relevant.

Outstanding management thinkers from practice and academia will take part in the congress, such as the futurist Matthias Horx, Lynda Gratton and Julian Birkinshaw from the London Business School, the bestselling author Andrew Keen, the management editor of the Economist, Adrian Wooldridge, Peter Lorange from the Lorange Institute, Zurich, Kay Segler, CEO of BMW M, Dirk Notheiss, CEO of Morgan Stanley Germany and Austria, as well as Sean Rush, President of Junior Achievement Worldwide.

Young managers up to the age of 35 from business and academia have an opportunity to take part in the Forum by winning one of the 45 conference tickets on offer in the "Peter Drucker Challenge" essay contest.

"We aspire to make the Vienna Peter Drucker Forum a platform for dialogue on the future of management," said Richard Straub, President of the Peter Drucker Society. "The development of the economy as a whole and society in general generate much interest in the public discussion. The key players themselves, the managers, and the importance of management for a functioning economy and society are currently not given enough attention - with the exception of the justified criticism of the financial sector. The Peter Drucker Society would like to put the vital role of management back in focus. The 2010 Forum will be a key milestone for achieving this."

"The best way to predict the future is to create it," said Peter F. Drucker.

The 2010 Forum is building on the extraordinary celebration in 2009 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Vienna born father of modern management, Peter F. Drucker.
