Middle East IT professionals ‘go green’ to boost credentials, thanks to BCS and Pearson VUE test partnership
IT professionals across the Middle East can now pursue an industry-specific certification which demonstrates their commitment to and understanding of energy efficiency and environmental friendly issues, thanks to an agreement between BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and Pearson VUE.
The membership organisation for global IT practitioners has appointed the computer-based testing business of Pearson to deliver its Green IT and Data Centre certifications, as well as an award programme to recognise efficiency and best practice, via a region-wide network of highly secure test centres. In addition to providing the industry with essential expertise, the partnership helps the BCS to fulfil its commitment to lowering carbon emissions and reducing the environmental impact of IT.
“Increasingly, we have seen a demand from the Middle East to identify certified individuals who can help address the issue of carbon footprint. In the IT industry, having the right credentials is the most effective way to demonstrate that an organisation is taking the environmental impact of its activity seriously,” said Michiel Van Der Voort, Director of Professional Development Services, BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. “The BCS Green IT and Data certifications ensure that IT professionals are equipped with the knowledge and skills to deliver energy efficient and sustainable IT.”
The certificates are aimed at a cross-section of industry professionals, including data centre managers, operators, consultants and technicians and business unit managers.
Suzana Lopes, Pearson VUE, Managing Director – New Markets, commented:
“Global concern over pollution, climate change and the depletion of natural resources has led organisations to focus on establishing sustainable business practices. As legislation continues to tighten and new regulations are introduced, professionals must obtain the knowledge, skills and certification required to deliver energy efficient and sustainable IT. We are delighted to help BCS meet this crucial need.”
