Pearson VUE and partners to showcase how IT certification improves business efficiencies and careers at GITEX Technology Week
The value of IT certification, computer-based testing (CBT) and developing new partnerships are all on the agenda for Pearson VUE and its partners at GITEX Technology Week.
From 14 to 18 October 2012 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Pearson VUE will be joined by BCS – The Chartered Institute for IT, CompTIA and CIW (Certified Internet Web Professional), for whom it delivers computer-based exams. Pearson VUE’s experts and partners will meet with attendees to discuss how certification can improve a professional’s career prospects and enhance the performance of a business. Pearson VUE delivers 12m tests annually worldwide.
As technologies become increasingly prevalent to businesses across the Middle East, Pearson VUE and its partners will discuss how certification can help a business to grow, attract the best talent and improve efficiencies. It will also share how certification can improve the reputation of a professional and a business, and help the latter to achieve globalisation. The company will also discuss how CBT and the availability of online portals for learning materials are giving candidates greater access to IT certifications globally. Experts will be on hand to give an overview of Pearson VUE’s own mindhub.com platform, which offers study resources for hundreds of IT certification exams.
For the seventh consecutive year, Pearson VUE will use the Middle East’s largest ICT event to provide a platform for training providers to meet with its partners, enabling them to share experiences and knowledge and form business relationships. This arrangement aims to increase the network of IT training and certification testing in the area in order to meet increasing demand.
Test vouchers for BCS – The Chartered Institute for IT, CompTIA and CIW exams will be on offer at a discounted rate of 50%. The vouchers will be available for eligible visitors to the Pearson stand in Hall 7 (Stand 701). Visitors can also take part in a brief IT certification and training survey and receive a series of exclusive Pearson offers.
John McGlinchey, Vice President, Europe and Middle East, CompTIA, said:
“Employers depend on certification to make hiring decisions because certified IT workers have a greater ability to understand new and complex technologies. Certification also has an impact on salary, with IT professionals gaining an average nine percent salary increase immediately after receiving certification, and 29 percent over the long term versus peers who are not certified. Ongoing training and certification of IT staff is no longer a luxury, but a necessity.”
Martyn Lambert, Chief Executive Officer of BCS Learning and Development, added:
“IT certification is more important than ever before. It proves a professional’s knowledge and ability and can be the passport to a better, more rewarding career. As technologies advance and customer needs increase across the Middle East, the demand for certified IT professionals will also rise.”
Marjorie Quigley, Regional Director EMEA, CIW, said:
“As the world's fastest growing vendor-neutral Internet skills training and certification programme for professionals, CIW considers GITEX Technology Week as the ideal arena to highlight the importance of certification. As more and more professionals in the Middle East pursue IT certification to boost their careers, we look forward to helping academic institutions, governments and businesses realise the benefits of using a computer-based exam delivery platform.”
Matthew Poyiadgi, Managing Director EMEA, Pearson VUE, commented:
"IT sponsors continue to lead the way in adopting new technologies and solutions. This helps them to deliver the best testing experience possible. GITEX Technology Week has long proven the perfect setting to connect with the Middle East’s ICT community and share best practices. Our attendance this year will help to further establish our presence across the region while helping our clients to become even more familiar. We look forward to helping other industry members harness the benefits of CBT and realise the true value of certification.”
