Virtual College: New Blog Explores Awaab’s Law and the Urgent Need for Damp and Mould Training in Housing
Virtual College has published a new blog explaining Awaab’s Law, a landmark step in UK housing safety that comes into effect from October 2025.
The legislation introduces stricter timeframes for landlords and housing providers to address damp and mould issues, following the tragic death of two-year-old Awaab Ishak in 2020 due to prolonged exposure to mould in his home.
The blog offers a clear breakdown of what the law means for tenants, social landlords, and housing professionals, and why urgent action is needed to ensure homes are safe, healthy, and compliant.
To support those responsible for property conditions, Virtual College has also launched a Damp and Mould Awareness Training Course, designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and confidence to meet legal requirements and protect residents’ wellbeing.
