Walkgrove e-learning wins counter terrorism award
After a training requirement was identified to tackle issues of security and counter terrorism, Walkgrove was commissioned by the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) in conjunction with Transport for London, to develop an e-learning module aimed at HGV drivers. The resulting course went on to win the nationally recognised Counter Terrorism Education Project Award at the Counter Terror Awards, March 2019.
These Awards embrace the over-arching aim to recognise effective counter terrorism strategies and awareness campaigns and acknowledge excellence in the global fight against terrorism.
FORS commissioned Walkgrove to work with them in response to an increase in terror-related incidents involving commercial vehicles. The 20 minute module, which features animation and video, was designed with input from the Metropolitan Police, DVSA and the Department for Transport. It focuses on improving security awareness, including terrorist threats, theft of vehicles or loads and the use of vehicles as weapons. It is a compulsory component of the FORS Standard (version 5) and must be re-visited every 24 months. To date, it has been completed by over 47,000 individuals across 5,100 FORS operators.
