Leading training and qualifications provider Watson Martin Partnership (WMP) announced today its successful application to join the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers (RoATP). The partnership will add apprenticeship training to its outstanding portfolio of Human Resources (HR), Leadership and Management, CMI, ILM, and in-company programmes in February.

Watson Martin Partnership joins the register as a main provider of HR and Leadership and Management apprenticeship training, meaning it can offer all aspects of the scheme from helping to recruit apprentices to delivering the training and claiming funding on behalf of levy paying employers. In addition, WMP can partner with other providers to deliver the HR and Leadership and Management elements of apprenticeship programmes.

The successful bid followed a rigorous tendering process where WMP had to demonstrate its suitability as an apprenticeship training provider which the partnership passed with flying colours.

“We are delighted that our application to join the register has been successful,” said WMP’s Managing Partner Heather Watson. “We are already specialists at delivering high quality qualification programmes in HR and Leadership and Management.  Apprenticeships are a great fit for us as our whole approach to learning is competency based, allowing candidates to use practical experiences in the workplace as part of their assessment process. It is an exciting opportunity which takes us to a whole new level as a training provider,” she added.

Watson Martin Partnership has wide ranging experience in delivering different models of training from technology supported learning via the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to classroom based workshops and webinars.  Candidates can choose how they want to learn and where they want to study.  This flexibility and the expertise of WMP’s CIPD qualified tutors will be extended to apprenticeship programmes once they begin.

Apprenticeships provide employers with a cost effective way of growing their skills base. Open to all ages from 16, they combine on the job training with studying for a qualification.  For young people, apprenticeships offer an excellent alternative to university where they can achieve the same level of qualification alongside the work experience to help them get a job, and all without incurring the debt associated with full time higher education.

“For employers, it’s all about upskilling their current workforce and bringing in new talent along with training on the job,” Heather Watson explained.  “Apprenticeships are attractive to businesses as all the evidence shows they reduce turnover because you are training employees in your way of doing things which, in turn, creates brand loyalty.  They really do offer win win opportunities for all.”

Watson Martin Partnership will now be conducting market research in order to develop a suite of pioneering HR and Leadership and Management apprenticeship training schemes to launch towards the end of the year. Looking to the future, WMP believes more companies will be offering Higher level apprenticeship programmes alongside their graduate training schemes.
