LinkedIn, Coca-Cola and Capital One International among organisations set to share expertise at renowned L&D conference
Celebrating its 23rd year, the World of Learning Conference & Exhibition takes place on 29th and 30th September at Birmingham’s NEC. The annual conference combines extensive research with authoritative input from key industry figures to provide an insight into the major trends affecting the L&D professional.
HR director at Capital One International, Karen Bowes, will deliver the opening address, exploring a key theme of the conference – ‘Creating a learning culture that drives business growth’. Sarah Teagle, business partner at AstraZeneca, will also tap into this theme in ‘L&D as a true business partner addressing real business needs.’
How to cultivate ‘mental toughness’ will be explored by Peter Clough, chair in Applied Psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University in his keynote, while sessions by Santander and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) will delve into elements of talent management.
Head of Learning Technologies at LinkedIn, Robert Todd, is set to share the ‘latest developments in learning technologies’ in his keynote, while international speaker Nigel Paine will look to the future in ‘the top ten challenges the learning professional will face in the next ten years’ in the final keynote.
Coca-Cola’s European senior L&D manager Cathy Hoy will use her session to explore a current hot topic - how to develop an ‘agile business’, considering the evolving role of L&D teams. Her insightful talk forms part of a series of exclusive sessions for Platinum delegates which also includes sessions on leadership and the future of blended learning.
Head of training, development and leadership at NHS Property Services, Hesketh Emden, will share advice on ‘developing an effective learning strategy with a limited budget and limited resources.’ Hesketh will partner with Robin Hoyle, trainer, learning designer and consultant who is also chairing the World of Learning Conference.
“Our comprehensive conference is at the heart of the World of Learning event, providing valuable insight into the key issues facing L&D, from developing resilience, talent management, gamification, the use of storytelling and ensuring L&D drives business growth”, explains Andrew Gee, Senior Project Manager for the World of Learning.
The highly respected conference sits alongside an exhibition which includes a range of interactive areas where visitors can receive hands-on, practical advice. These include the Technology Test Drive area, enabling visitors to test the latest innovations. The Mindfulness Zone provides strategy on increasing employee productivity and engagement, while the Experiential Learning Zone delivers a series of interactive bite-sized skill sessions on key areas including emotional intelligence.
