The company was honoured at the E-Learning Age awards held at the Marriot Grosvenor Square in London's Mayfair last week. Over 200 entries were received from all over the world and nearly 500 people gathered to celebrate the strength and depth of successful e-learning that is taking place across the globe.
Atlas, which has its global headquarters in Aberdeen, took the silver award in the main category - E-Learning Development Company of the year.
Judges praised its contribution to e-learning innovation adding: "Atlas's development activities have had a unique impact on the oil and gas industry. Learners benefit from better access to training, and organisations from better knowledge transfer between staff."
Atlas is market leader for e-learning in the global oil and gas sector. Its technology-led solutions are designed to deliver over 350,000 learning events across 40 countries in 20 languages every year. It produces both own-branded off-the-shelf courseware and bespoke programmes and has built a library of award-winning online courseware.
Atlas has one of the world's largest portfolios of online content covering health, safety, environment, compliance, risk and technical subjects for upstream and downstream, office and shore-based operations and offers more than 200 industry-focused courses.

Atlas was honoured for the success of its IMIST e-learning course. This global training standard developed for industry by oil and gas training standards body OPITO International and delivered in partnership with Atlas via approved invigilation centres, IMIST brings for the first time a standardised level of basic safety training to an estimated 1.5million oil and gas workers worldwide. The training assesses basic safety knowledge in nine subject areas including risk assessment, asset integrity, the use of hazardous substances, working at height and mechanical lifting among other subjects.

In addition to this the Atlas Knowledge Centre was also recognised, aimed at employees within the oil and gas industry who need anything from concentrated deep dive study of a technical oil and gas subject, to a quick reference or reminder of how a particular process or equipment works.
Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Clariant Oil Services, for instance, a global leader in the provision of speciality products and services to the oil and gas industry for the upstream production, pipeline, refinery and exploration markets is utilising the Atlas Knowledge Centre. It is proving effective as a learning support resource for their oil and gas division, providing them with a greater understanding of the oil and gas industry to support them in their business (their staff are chemists in the main and oil and gas is not their background).
