Atlas welcomes Scottish Labour Party leader in visit to headquarters
Leading international skills and learning provider, Atlas, welcomed Johann Lamont, leader of the Scottish Labour Party, into its global headquarters in Aberdeen this week to discuss the importance of training in the UK oil and gas sector.
Leading international skills and learning provider, Atlas, welcomed Johann Lamont, leader of the Scottish Labour Party, into its global headquarters in Aberdeen this week to discuss the importance of training in the UK oil and gas sector.
Ms Lamont and CEO of Atlas, John Rowley, discussed some of the challenges, as well as the opportunities, facing the industry, focusing on the importance of skills and competence to ensure the UK workforce is operating safely and efficiently.
Atlas demonstrated some of the technology-led training that it is providing as a solution to meet the skills challenges of the energy industry in the UK and internationally to Ms Lamont on the visit.
In the competitive global market for e-learning courses, software and learning solutions, Atlas has risen to prominence and in the process has created more than 60 new jobs in the past 18 months with exports now accounting for over 53% of sales.
Atlas also works closely with the Aberdeen College, running a graduate training programme to encourage young people to get into the industry, and has since employed 20 students from the initiative. The company has also played an active role in the new Your Future In Energy Initiative to encourage Aberdeen school children to consider a career in the energy sector.
Atlas is also a delivery partner with industry training body OPITO, and provides Minimum Industry Safety Training MIST and the international IMIST via e-learning to oil and gas workers across the world. Tailored to meet each region's specific workforce, language and geographic needs, the course assesses basic safety knowledge, and is available in nine languages.

The energy sector is expanding every day and it's never been more important to ensure there is one industry standard throughout.
