How is the credit crunch affecting salaries in training, learning and development?
We all know that these are tough times - but is the current economic climate impacting on salaries in the training sector? Blue Eskimo's 2009 Salary and Work Survey could provide the answer.
Blue Eskimo, the specialist learning and development recruitment company, has just launched its annual survey. The survey is open to anyone who works within the training, learning or technology sectors. There are just a few questions and it takes less than five minutes to complete.
Blue Eskimo will publish the results of the survey on its Web site in January 2009. To provide something of an incentive, anyone who takes part can optionally be entered into a prize draw to win a 16GB Apple iPod Touch, worth £219.
"To take part and to qualify for the prize draw," says Nick Jones, director at Blue Eskimo, "people just have to work - in any role - in learning and development or in technology, in the UK."
It's hoped that the survey will highlight - among other things - how the current economic climate is affecting the learning and development industry. "Times are tough," says Jones, "but the learning industry is doing better than most. Many of our customers are doing as well as ever. But we'd like to measure how much the credit crunch is beginning to bite."
Blue Eskimo is planning on running the survey each year, to measure progress and trends within the learning and technology industries. "Because we're at the heart of these industries," says Jones, "we're better placed to ask questions and then publish the resulting information."
The survey is open until 16 December 2008. "This should give us just enough time to get the iPod to the lucky winner before Christmas," concludes Jones.
