Charity eLearning success stories published at WOLCE
The Charity Learning Consortium will be publishing several case studies at the World of Learning Conference & Exhibition, with Macmillan Cancer Support, Plan and The National Autistic Society - celebrating the great work that is being done within charity learning.
The
Charity Learning Consortium - which recently reached a
milestone in its history with its 100th charity member - will be
publishing several case studies at its stand - number
E140 - at The World of Learning Conference &
Exhibition, 27-28 September at the NEC, Birmingham.
The eLearning stories of success are being jointly published with
Towards
Maturity, the highly regarded benchmarking organisation which
developed the case studies.
The spotlight on Macmillan Cancer Support for example, focuses
on innovative L&D at the charity, which is celebrating its
centenary this year. The case study is a great example of how much
can be achieved by initially just one person - and then a small
L&D team - at the cancer care and support charity.
"You don't need a large team to develop an interactive, user
focused learning environment. Neither do you need to create
resources if appropriate generic content already exists," explains
case study author Lesley Price of Towards Maturity. "Macmillan
achieved success by staying focused, by bringing together a range
of resources from different providers but giving it a Macmillan
look and feel, and only creating content when trying to meet
specific user needs."
Each case study ends with useful hints and tips, from lessons
learnt by the organisations along the way.
Martin Baker, the founder and CEO of the Consortium, will also
take part in the lunchtime panel debate in the World of Learning
Conference: 'How can L&D deliver with reduced time and
budgets?'
Several charity members of the Consortium are also taking an
active part in the Conference, helping to raise the profile of
charity learning.
Nancy Ouma, Assessment & Training Manager at VSO, will be
presenting on the hot topic of social learning; Peter Coley, Head
of Learning & Development at St Mungo's, the charity which helps homeless
people, will be focusing on what happens after training, and -
vitally - how you get behaviour to then change. And Gareth
Gilleeney, Learning & Development Manager at housing and
homelessness charity Shelter, will be joining Martin Baker on the
lunchtime panel debate.
All charities get a special 50% discount via the Consortium to
attend the World of Learning Conference and Exhibition. Members of
the Consortium should use the code CLCMEM when
booking, charities which are not members but may be interested in
the work of the Consortium, please use the code
