Martin Baker pledges to help the eLearning Network shine in its silver anniversary year
Martin Baker, the founder and CEO of The Charity Learning Consortium, has pledged to help raise the profile of the eLearning Network in 2012 - its 25th anniversary year - after being voted onto the board. Martin brings with him more than 20 years of experience in eLearning, and hopes his knowledge of creating and building The Charity Learning Consortium – the largest group of UK based charities collaborating to make eLearning affordable – will prove valuable in his new role.
Martin Baker, the founder and CEO of The Charity Learning Consortium (CLC), has pledged to help raise the profile of The eLearning Network (eLN) - the not-for-profit organisation which supports those involved in eLearning – after being voted onto the eLN board.
Martin is passionate about collaboration within the eLearning community – and has seen the direct benefit of collaboration through his work with more than 100 charity members of the CLC. Starting the CLC took great tenacity – making it happen took creativity and drive. Martin hopes his experience from growing the CLC to the success that it is today will be relevant in helping to raise the profile of the eLN in 2012, its silver anniversary year.
“What attracted me to stand for the eLN board is the organisation’s strong sense of community and emphasis on knowledge sharing and mentoring,” said Martin “The eLearning community is well known for supporting one another, and it’s great to see this in action at the eLN.”
“I would encourage anyone involved in eLearning to join this vibrant group, which offers real peer to peer support and knowledge sharing. I feel honoured to be a part of the next chapter of this valuable community.”
Rob Hubbard, chair of the eLN, commented: “I’d like to welcome Martin, and all our newly elected members of the eLN board. As we go into 2012 and the 25th anniversary of the eLN, it’s a very exciting time for us - so we’re delighted to have some fresh new effort, thoughts and ideas to contribute to this special year.”
The eLN is determined to really live up to its name by building a vibrant community of practice. The network currently has around 3,000 members. Associate membership is absolutely free and associate members can access online networks and webinars all at no charge. Full membership brings with it many additional benefits, including access to the eLN mentoring scheme, and starts at £75.
