Coastal Releases Smart Digital Instrumentation Employee Training Series
Coastal Skills Training announces the release of its new four-part Smart Digital Instrumentation employee training series.
Designed for control systems technicians, electricians, mechanics, process operators, and other instrumentation and control professionals, the Smart Digital Instrumentation series helps employees understand HART protocol, the applications and day-to-day use of HART Smart field devices, and the FOUNDATION™ fieldbus communication model. With this foundation of knowledge, employees can begin to use the technology to streamline maintenance tasks and quickly and remotely identify equipment problems.
The Smart Digital Instrumentation series is available in Coastal's ClarityNet HD® eLearning and Clarity Multimedia® CD-ROM platforms. Both formats allow end-users to learn at their own pace and convenience and feature high-resolution graphics, pre- and post-testing, embedded questions, and interactive exercises. Course objectives are clearly stated at the beginning of each course.
Coastal’s Smart Digital Instrumentation series is available for free, 15-day preview and includes the following four programs:
1. Understanding Hart Protocol – introduces employees to the technology, circuitry, signaling, command set, and device description language of HART protocol as well as HART-compatible field devices.
2. Applications of Smart Field Devices – details the installation requirements of HART-compatible Smart field devices, explains central hosting systems and interfaces, and reviews industrial applications for HART-compatible Smart systems.
3. Configuring, Calibrating and Testing Smart Field Devices – explores the functions and operating procedures of HART-compatible communicators/calibrators and examines the specific tests, settings, errors, and warning messages to help employees effectively commission, configure, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot HART Smart field devices.
4. FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus – introduces employees to the design, function, and applications of the FOUNDATION™ fieldbus communication model.
The Smart Digital Instrumentation employee training series expands the range of Coastal’s Instrumentation and Control training curriculum – bringing the total number of training units/hours to 47. Other Instrumentation and Control training series include Basic Process Control (9 training units/hours), Calibration and Test Equipment (6 training units/hours), Continuous Process Control (4 training units/hours), Control Valves and Actuators (4 training units/hours), Electronic Maintenance (12 training units/hours), and Process Measurement (8 training units/hours).
