VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Mar. 15, 2012 – DuPont Sustainable Solutions has released Portable Fire Extinguishers: Protecting People And Property, a new fire safety training program to help employees identify and use the most common types of portable fire extinguishers.
Because time is of the essence when it comes to fires, employees need to know when to fight and when to flee a fire, and if they fight, how to properly operate a fire extinguisher.
Portable Fire Extinguishers: Protecting People And Property, available on DVD and as an interactive online course, begins with fire basics, including the four elements needed to start a fire and the five classes of fire. It then identifies different portable fire extinguishers and how to properly distribute, inspect, and maintain them. Finally, it explains what to do when a fire occurs: It describes the RACE method for deciding when to use an extinguisher, shows the PASS principle for extinguishing a fire, and explains the steps to take after an extinguisher has been used.
