How small businesses can develop their people without an L&D team

Small businesses need to develop their people as they grow, but many lack the budgets, systems and dedicated L&D resources available to larger organisations. Learning is often informal, with colleagues sharing skills and knowledge as workplace needs arise.
In this Learning News interview, Paul Buller, Head of Content at Mindtools Kineo, discusses the gap between individual learning subscriptions and enterprise platforms, which can be costly and time-consuming for smaller organisations to implement.
Mindtools Kineo has launched Mindtools For Teams for groups of 10, 25 or 50 employees. It includes management and leadership resources, short Skill Bites courses, the Mindtools Content Hub and AI-powered coaching through Ask M.
Buller argues that access to resources is only part of the answer. Businesses must also create an environment in which employees share learning, ask questions and apply what they learn at work.
‘If we can open that culture of learning, then we start to learn how to ask more questions, how to listen better and how to be more curious,’ he said.
