New eLearning Apprenticeship granted approval

Foster & ForgeLearning News

Government approval has been granted for a new Trailblazer apprenticeship standard which is set to benefit employers in the eLearning sector.

The Digital Learning Designer apprenticeship has been developed over the past 12 months through a comprehensive consultation and hundreds of hours of input from over 20 organisations, encompassing the full spectrum of industries involved. They have now been approved for delivery and support the government's drive for apprenticeship reform in England.

Trailblazer apprenticeships are led by employers, for employers and aim to ensure apprenticeships are tailored to the needs of the industry. The standards list the key skills, knowledge and behaviours apprentices should achieve to complete their training.

Apprenticeship programmes, based on these standards, will give employers the confidence that their apprentices will develop the skills they need to make a meaningful contribution to their company.

Donna Westwood, Founder at Foster & Forge and Chair of the Trailblazer Group, said: “The Trailblazer Group’s ambition for this apprenticeship was to ensure we have a standard that is fit for purpose and defines the behaviours, knowledge and skills and competencies required to work successfully within the eLearning industry. This could be for an eLearning business, in an eLearning role within a corporate or for a higher education provider.

The apprenticeship will allow the employer to tailor their training to their company’s core business and provide a clear focus for the apprentice. It is a huge achievement for our industry, and I would like to personally thank all the individuals who were a part of this group in helping it come to fruition. It is hoped the delivery of these new apprenticeships will begin in September 2022.”

The Trailblazer Group members consisted of representatives from the following businesses and higher education providers:

Lexedio, Solent University Southampton, University of Sheffield, Advance HE, instinct, University of Exeter, Foster & Forge, Stannah, curism, omniplex learning, University of Winchester, Nottingham Trent University, LearnBox, Pearson, Association for Learning Technology, WILEY, Middlesex University London,  Solihull College & University Centre, University of Birmingham, Sainsbury’s, University of Leeds, Virgin Media, LDN Apprenticeships, BT

Foster & Forge will be exhibiting at the Learning Technologies Conference, 4th – 5th May 2022 on Stand A36.
