Carol Clutton from the University of Surrey, Student Support Services, has just rolled out their Surrey Student Induction e-learning module ahead of the new academic year. Here's what she had to say about the module:

“There’s certainly pressure on students and Universities to cover these topics as we want to be sure that we are providing relevant, current information to our students about important topics that are relevant to student life today.”

"I am super happy with the student induction course, and especially as the Marshall E-Learning team delivered the module before the original deadline. The team have been fantastic to work with and I hope this module will be really successful and we can continue to work with Marshall's."

David Marshall, Founder of Marshall E-Learning, says that there is more pressure on both students and universities to cover these essential topics.

“We’ve heard from universities and colleges across the UK that there has been a rise in incidents relating to students’ welfare as the new academic year begins, especially for those new to the university experience. Fresher’s Week activities and generally bringing people together in new environments can results in safety concerns around areas like alcohol and drug misuse, sexual harassment, racial prejudice and mental health.”

“We’re seeing that a lot more universities and colleges are looking to preempt student welfare issues by running student induction training, effectively offering students a warm welcome to the university while educating them about some of the challenges they may face in their new academic careers.”

Each of the modules in the Student Induction course offered by Marshall E-Learning has been designed with the student audience in mind. Everything, from the choice of language to the selection of voice over artist, is hand-picked to maximise student engagement.

The courses look at subjects including:

- Alcohol and Drug Awareness
- Sexual Consent on Campus
- Diversity Training for Students
- Social Media Savviness
- Getting Support
- Mental Health
- Employability

Using examples and interactive exercises the course takes a straightforward look at one of the most important current issues for Higher Education organisations.
