Do less training …do more learning
Learning services provider SkillSet will challenge traditional workplace training at the Learning Technologies Summer Forum, making the case for greater integration of learning with work. SkillSet’s Tim Marshall will host a seminar highlighting why a more integrated approach to learning can better respond to the changing workplace.
Tim Marshall, a learning consultant with SkillSet, will lead the discussion and asks: “Have you ever wondered what would happen if you did less training within your organisation? Your initial reaction might be that it would create a knowledge vacuum and reduce efficiency. What if we told you that doing less training could actually lead to improved end-user performance and increased staff productivity?”
“Learning today has vastly changed from the lengthy trainer-led induction classroom training of just ten years ago. Organisations are seeking out new ways to blend the benefits of technology with the modern workforce’s consumption of information and communication to provide a new dynamic of effective learning. This change in approach is creating more engagement with staff in self-directed learning and has given rise to the 70/20/10 rule and the need to challenge training planning in the workplace.”
Tim Marshall’s seminar ‘Do less training ...do more learning’ at the upcoming Learning Technologies Summer Forum, will consider the how the Z-generation’s appetite for information is transforming learning, the need for learning at the point of need, making the most from the 70/20/10 rule and integrating performance support with training planning.
The Learning Technologies Summer Forum is free to attend and takes place on 17 June 2014 at Olympia, London. Skillset’s seminar takes place at 15.45 in theatre 2.
