SQS introduces Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 training programme for quality assurance teams
SQS Software Quality Systems (AIM: SQS.L), the largest independent provider of software testing and quality management services, today announced an addition to its software testing and quality assurance training programme covering the test and lab management areas within Microsoft's new Visual Studio 2010 suite.
Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 was officially launched on 12 April 2010 and includes test and lab management features which simplify test planning and test execution and integrate this closer to the software development process.
SQS is offering two courses for end users and developers, either in SQS' training centres or as private courses on client sites. The courses are: a one day Introduction to Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 test and lab management and a two day technical course Creating CodedUI Tests in Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 for creating automated tests.
SQS has already delivered onsite Visual Studio 2010 training and testing consultancy to Equiniti, a leading UK share registrar and BPO services provider, to help the team deploy the Visual Studio solution with confidence. SQS worked with Equiniti to set up an automated testing framework that includes a virtual laboratory. "When we build a test now, it goes into a library," says Mike Jolliffe, Chief Technology Officer, Equiniti. "Then we can put together larger, more complex tests from those we've already created. A lot of that testing is now done in a completely virtual environment."
"We believe that the Visual Studio 2010 test and lab management features will greatly benefit any company developing and implementing software using Microsoft Visual Studio. Also developers with dedicated QA (quality assurance) teams or organisations looking for an alternate testing tool stand to benefit from Microsoft's new offering and our complementary training," comments Steve Dennis, Training Director, SQS-UK.
"In addition, through the introduction of the new toolset, we believe that Microsoft is working to further erode the walls between development and testing," he continued. "Microsoft is offering a cost effective and integrated toolset and is highlighting its virtual labs which aim to improve testing efficiency by speeding up deployment, saving on hardware costs and freeing testers' time to concentrate on value-added testing activities instead of repetitive and often unproductive work. A number of external connectors are also becoming available which allow integration with non-Microsoft tools and will make Visual Studio 2010 attractive to companies using other development and testing tools or deploying off the shelf packages."
SQS is a member of Microsoft's Visual Studio Inner Circle program as a testing specialist. The partnership gives SQS unique insight into the Visual Studio 2010 product and ensures we have highly skilled experts available to help our clients implement and use Visual Studio 2010 successfully.
SQS is also a Microsoft Gold Partner and its test reporting tool TestStrategist is certified by Microsoft to run on their Windows Server and SQL Server platforms.
