Towards Maturity and LearnerLab partner to put engagement centre stage of workplace learning agenda

London, UKLearning NewsTowards Maturity

New service equips organisations with the learner data, insight and expertise to target investment for an increasingly digital workforce.

Towards Maturity, Europe’s leading learning benchmark specialist, and engagement experts LearnerLab, have teamed up to help organisations make informed decisions about how best to engage and support their people based on evidence and understanding online behaviour.

Details of the Corporate Benchmark Service are available on the Towards Maturity and LearnerLab websites at http://towardsmaturity.org/static/learner/ and http://www.learnerlab.com/corporate-benchmark-service/.

The Learning Landscape Corporate Edition is a new enhanced engagement package offered by Towards Maturity and LearnerLab. Recognising the importance of engagement to overcoming current barriers to online learning, it provides the benchmark tools, analysis, expert consultancy and performance support toolkits to help learning teams instigate a step change in how they engage people with learning technologies.

Organisations report benefit gap against ambitions

Technology is making a big impact on learning at work but the gap between benefits expected and those actually realised remains surprisingly high. From ‘increasing ongoing sharing of good practice’ to ‘increasing on the job productivity’ organisations report a benefit gap of between 59% - 73%* against ambitions.  However, when examined the majority of barriers to successful use of learning technologies relate to engagement and digital competencies. Apart from cost, organisations report lack of user skills to manage e-learning, reluctance of line managers to encourage it and L&D skills to implement it as the main barriers alongside learning that is at times too generic and low quality.

The good news is that overall the users themselves are keen to embrace the change. 75% are happy to engage with online learning and four out of 5 people are open to share what they know with colleagues via social networks. It’s clear there is a huge opportunity for improvement.

Service to meet people’s increasing expectations of technology for learning at work

The Learning Landscape Corporate Edition package is designed to help organisations make a business case for change, set strategy and implement effective digital learning experiences to fulfil their vision for learning transformation.

This partnership between Towards Maturity and LearnerLab means that organisations can gain the necessary insight into how their global learning audiences are using technology and expert advice on how best to engage them based on evidence representing their own people and culture.

The service features:

Towards Maturity Learning Landscape Audit - a survey tool which reports how people are learning for work. Based on a decade of learning technologies research it provides expert insight that supports assured decision-making.

Follow up LearnerLab consultancy and performance support services focus on the full engagement journey for learning:

  • User experience, Gamification and Engagement expert reviews
  • Communications and evaluation strategies plus campaigns to act upon the benchmark data
  • Communications and evaluation performance support toolkits to help L&D teams take ownership of the engagement process within their own organisation

Laura Overton, MD, Towards Maturity explains:

“L&D leaders have articulated their desire to deliver learner centred programmes, yet despite best intentions, they regularly report ‘reluctance to engage’ as a significant barrier. Our Learning Landscape audit challenges our assumptions about learners at work. It provides amazing data on how staff are currently learning at work. Our partnership with LearnerLab will help organisations turn that insight into practical action to deliver customer centric programmes that inspire and engage.”

Cheryl Clemons, Co-Founder, LearnerLab, said:

“For us, teaming up with Towards Maturity makes perfect sense. Many organisations are wrestling with how to best engage an increasingly connected audience with rising expectations. It’s essential that L&D leaders make decisions based on real evidence as they strive to communicate, design and evaluate relevant digital learning experiences to support their organisations. Adding an engagement wrap to Towards Maturity’s excellent benchmark services provides organisations with the data and expertise to solve some very contemporary business challenges.”
