Announcing the 2012 Learning Awards winners

Coventry, UKLearning NewsLPI (Learning and Performance Institute)

The Learning Awards gathers together the best and brightest individuals and organisations from L&D to celebrate outstanding achievements.

The Learning and Development industry turned out in force on Thursday evening (2 February 2012) in support of The Learning and Performance Institute's annual Awards ceremony, The Learning Awards.

Two-time British Sportswoman of the Year, Sharron Davies MBE, hosted the event which took place at the 5-star Dorchester Hotel, London. The ceremony was filled with international figureheads from the global learning community, who joined the awards finalists to celebrate outstanding success across 14 awards categories.

Winner of one of the elite awards on the night - Training Company of the Year - was Afiniti. The category for Training Department of the Year, which was dominated by a host of household names including Boots, Ernst and Young and FDM Group, was won by Barclaycard.

This year's Trainer of the Year was awarded to Jim Hainie, Learning Consultant at Afiniti. The judges commented that Jim's approach went significantly beyond conventional "training", in that he was able to create a learning culture that not only maximised the effectiveness of skills transfer, but also had a real bottom line impact.

The final award of the night, The Colin Corder Award for services to learning, was presented to Nigel Paine. The announcement was met with rapturous applause and accompanied by a much deserved standing ovation. Prior to setting up his own consultancy practice, Nigel was Head of Training and Development at the BBC in London.
