COLF Celebrates its first Birthday

Coventry, UKLearning NewsLPI (Learning and Performance Institute)

The Certified Online Learning Facilitator (COLF) course continues to grow in popularity a year after its initial launch.

Launched in January 2011 by The Learning and Performance Institute (LPI), the COLF course has enjoyed unprecedented success with hundreds of trainers achieving the certification in the last 12 months.

The course is hosted completely online with the aim of helping trainers improve and validate their online delivery skills.

Course feedback collected from the Institute demonstrates the significant impact the COLF course is having on training departments and individuals looking to facilitate live online learning. According to course feedback 84% of COLF delegates stated that the course had either improved or greatly improved their ability to deliver engaging live online events, whilst 97.5% would recommend the course to colleagues.

According to Sarah Ward, Training Manager at Kent Adult Social Services the course has given her team a great foundation on which to launch their online training sessions.

She said: “The course and facilitator really were excellent, all the team have given positive feedback. I now feel I’m equipped with a group of trainers that have a greater understanding of all the elements of delivering online training. They are still nervous about 'going live', but have the best start to ensure we can run sessions with confidence. In addition, I’m confident that the sessions we deliver will be of high enough quality to engage people, encourage them to take an active role in the learning and appreciate this new method of training in Kent.”

Live online learning is proving to be the fastest growing training delivery method, driven by deep cuts in training budgets, many Training Managers from both the public and private sector have started to move their traditional face-to-face classroom training sessions into an online/virtual environment. According to data taken from the Learning Survey 2011, 47% of trainers increased their use of live online learning last year and this figure is expected to increase further in 2012.

In celebration of COLF’s first birthday, The Learning and Performance Institute will be holding free to attend webinars throughout 2012 aimed at providing an easy introduction to live online learning. To register visit: www.learningandperformanceinstitute.com/webinar.htm.
